imprinted memory is a personal reflection on the collective feeling we have being near the sea or at the seaside. Although my connection to the sea is personal, I feel it’s safe to say that anyone can experience the positive impact of being at the seaside, even if it’s only for a short period of time. By using sounds that embody the ancient feeling associated with the seaside, imprinted memory tries to bring the listener into a state of mind and body that captures the feeling of being there.

Archief van mogelijk verlies - boekvoorstelling
Het verdwijnen van een soort roept steevast sterke emoties op. Het voortbestaan van dieren, planten en natuurverschijnselen is dan ook onlosmakelijk verbonden met de mens. Tine Hens zoekt woorden om te vatten wat we dreigen te verliezen: de kievit, wilde korenbloem, sneeuw, duisternis… Ellen Jacobs capteert de geluiden ervan in een bijbehorende soundscape – voor zover die al niet verstoord zijn door menselijke activiteit. ‘Archief van mogelijk verlies‘ omarmt het verdriet om wat al verloren is, maar nodigt vooral uit tot verwondering om wat nog is.
Vandaag stellen de auteurs hun boek voor bij de installatie.
De installatie zelf is gratis te bezoeken op concertdagen van 16 december tot en met 29 januari.

Archief van mogelijk verlies - boekvoorstelling
Journaliste en auteur Tine Hens duikt in haar geheugen en vertelt over planten, dieren en natuurfenomenen die op het punt staan te verdwijnen.
In minder dan vijftig jaar verdween driekwart van de dieren op aarde. Niet alleen zeldzame soorten verdwijnen: ook het gewone, het alledaagse glipt stilletjes weg. En wat we nooit écht gekend hebben, vergeten we ook. Wat blijft er dan nog over?
Journaliste en auteur Tine Hens stelt haar nieuwe boek ‘Archief van mogelijk verlies’ voor. In twaalf meeslepende hoofdstukken duikt ze in haar geheugen en vertelt ze over planten, dieren en natuurfenomenen die op het punt staan te verdwijnen: kieviten, palingen, spreeuwenzwermen, maar ook sneeuw, stilte en duisternis.
Het boek is ook de basis van een originele compositie van Ellen Jacobs, waarin het geluid van korenbloemen, leeuweriken, smeltende gletsjers, vuurvliegjes, sneeuw, olmen, kieviten, spreeuwenzwermen, vroedmeesterpadden samenkomen. Tijdens de boekvoorstelling krijg je die compositie ook te horen.
Birsen Uçar sluit de boekvoorstelling af. Ze zingt bij Hydrogen Sea en schrijft songteksten voor o.a. Selah Sue en Geike. Birsen is ook aspirant ecofilosoof. Ze onderzoekt hoe de mens zich heeft losgekoppeld van de natuur en pleit voor een betere voeling met meer-dan-menselijke wezens?
Bij de boekvoorstelling hoort ook een installatie. Die kan je bezoeken voor of na de boekvoorstelling. Of je kiest een ander moment 18 november en 5 december.
